Introduction to Double Exposure Photography to Create Visual Narratives

Workshop Description:
Step into the world where imagination and serendipity meets technique. This workshop explores the art of double exposure photography—a process of layering images to reveal stories that go beyond a single frame. Participants will learn how to combine portraits, landscapes, and textures to craft compelling visual narratives that evoke emotion and meaning. Whether you’re a beginner curious about creative experimentation or an experienced photographer seeking new storytelling tools, this session will inspire you to see photography as poetry in pictures.
Class Format:
- Introduce participants to the artistic and symbolic potential of double exposure photography with examples from my portfolio. (Half an hour)
- Short photographic exercise of going to the Lakefront with cameras to take a variety of shots. (Half an hour)
- Come back to the hotel, download shots and combine images with an easy double exposure creating technique in Photoshop. (One hour)
- Create maximum 6 images.
- Title your work. Option (if there is time) to create a three lined poem (haiku) to accompany your favourite double exposure image.
Equipment needed:
- DSLR Camera, Computer with Photoshop
- Pen drive with a selection of your own images to combine as double exposures.
- Please include textures, portraits, flowers scenery.
