Nailing the Narrative. We are all wired to connect with and remember stories. As photographers, to give our audience the best chance of reading and understanding our stories, we need to snag them and keep them engaged. In this session, commercial and fine art photographer Kris Anderson will take you through the techniques he uses to craft engaging narrative-driven images that keep a viewer hooked. Kris will use his own work to demonstrate practical examples. No matter what your photographic specialty might be, you'll leave this session with some new tools to try, and hopefully some inspiration! | ||

Then I will bring you back to New Zealand and I will share some photographs from my ongoing project with Māori tribe, ‘Tūhoe’. Charles' will be presenting his Architecture in Music series which has become an international phenomenon. His exquisite images showcasing a wide range of musical instruments from the inside have garnered attention internationally. Charles' painstaking attention to detail not only results in beautiful images, but plays tricks on the mind of viewers who find them a truly immersive experience. It has been said that just as Ryan Brenizer perfected and popularised the concept of bokeh panorama aka the 'Brenizer Effect', Charles Brooks has been responsible for bringing extreme macro photography and image stacking to the attention of millions and would have deservedly earned having this labelled as the 'Brooks Effect'. | ||

Dance photography - fast and slow Dance photography is an exciting and fulfilling niche, and like every area of photography has its own special considerations. Kris will walk you through his approach to a studio dance photography session, how he thinks about technical aspects like lighting and camera technique, communication with the client, and the logistics of moving through a studio session. We'll also explore how using long exposures and intentional camera movement can lead to spectacular abstract images. | ||
