Peter has worked with images for most of his life, initially through drawing, painting and printmaking before photography gradually became his primary medium.

That visual background continues to shape his photographic work, with an instinctive response to light, form, tone and the relationships between things, rather than beginning with a particular subject or idea.

His photography has been widely exhibited and featured in numerous commercial publications, both in New Zealand and internationally.

Peter has also led photography workshops throughout New Zealand and overseas, with a strong emphasis on helping photographers move beyond the technical side of the camera and develop greater confidence in their own way of seeing and interpreting the world.

These days, his focus is increasingly on carefully considered collections, predominantly in black and white, exploring the quieter and often overlooked possibilities within ordinary places.
