Bruce Girdwood

Bruce Girdwood is a Fellow and long-standing member of the Photographic Society of New Zealand (PSNZ), where he currently serves as Chair of the PSNZ Honours Board, a role he has held for six years. With over seven years on the PSNZ Judge Accreditation Panel, including six as Chair, Bruce played a pivotal role in developing and leading PSNZ’s Judge Training Programme. He has also served as a convener of selectors for numerous national and regional exhibitions and has contributed to the selection of international exhibitions, including the prestigious PSNZ International and North Shore Salons.

Originally from southern Africa, Bruce began his photographic journey in 1983, inspired by the stunning beauty of his surroundings. After living in the UK, where his passion for photography deepened, he moved to New Zealand in 1996 and now resides near Greytown in the picturesque Wairarapa.

Bruce is an accomplished photographic tour leader, workshop instructor, and speaker, sharing his expertise and creative insights across New Zealand. For Bruce, photography is more than a visual art—it’s a deeply personal form of self-expression and storytelling, capturing his journey of discovery and connection with the world.
