Founders Heritage Park is a replica historic village of Nelson's early days (circa 1880-1930) featuring heritage displays, railway, cafe and working artisans.  Located on the outskirts of Nelson city, the park is filled with character streets and attractive gardens across 5ha of land.

The Miyazu Gardens are located just outside of Nelson City, next to Founders Heritage Park. Celebrating Nelson’s relationship with its Japanese sister city, the gardens symbolise the culture and spirituality of Japan.  The gardens feature still reflective ponds, exotic plantings, tranquil fountains and footbridges. Bonsai and Cherry trees adorn the landscape. Pondside pavilions, a teahouse, ritual stone basins, Yen sand-raked abstract gardens, lily ponds and pagodas are symbolic of the Japanese culture.

A great opportunity to photograph wandering paths and make creative images inspired by a Japanese theme.
