An Introduction to Book Binding
Cost: $20pp for book making materials
Construct Your Own Japanese Stab-Bound Book
Enjoy the satisfaction of hands-on making as you craft your own beautiful, hard-covered book using the traditional Japanese stab-binding technique.
Your finished book will feature 20 sheets of premium 200gsm art paper — perfect for a photographic series, a journal, mixed media, collage or a blend of all!
The Value of Creating Bodies of Work
In addition to the hands-on book-making activities, Annette Johnston, who is deeply passionate about printing and binding her own photographic projects, will facilitate a discussion focused on the importance of producing cohesive bodies of work. This session aims to highlight the benefits of compiling and presenting photographic projects in a unified format, encouraging participants to reflect on the narrative and artistic potential that emerges when individual pieces are brought together. Annette’s insights will help inspire attendees to see the book they construct not only as a
standalone object, but as a meaningful vessel for their own stories, collections, or artistic explorations.
Each participant will take home a completed, handcrafted stab-bound book — ready to fill with your own creative expression.
