"At 17, my father introduced me to photography, and I was hooked. With no formal training, but a passion that wouldn't quit, I devoured every opportunity to learn. What started as a hobby soon became a full-time career, and I knew I'd found my calling.
Joining camera clubs and collaborating with fellow photographers was a fantastic way to share knowledge, learn from others, and refine my style. My 14 years of shooting weddings - yes, back in the film days! - laid a solid foundation. But it's sports photography that's taken me on incredible journeys to amazing locations around the world.
Today, I specialise in commercial and industrial photography with a dash of sports. I thrive on working with people and embracing the thrill of the chase when new opportunities arise. With over 30 years of experience behind the lens, I've developed a good understanding of my craft.
Photography can be tough, but it's also incredibly rewarding. I'm still inspired by my peers and the ever-changing world around me - and that's what keeps me going.”

I have been a professional photographer and photojournalist for the past 20 years, allowing me to pursue what I love every day.
When I first discovered photography, there were few tutors or mentors available. Being entirely self-taught, I now feel a strong desire to support others on their own journey by teaching classes and judging through PSNZ.
Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to receive numerous awards and honours, and my work has been featured in publications across the country.
While I continue to fulfil my professional photographic duties, I believe it’s essential to pursue personal projects. These often involve a mix of portraiture and conceptual photography. Through these works, I aim to present photography as an art form, placing particular emphasis on exploring the narrative within each image.
Photography, for me, is an ongoing exploration—a chance to tell a story, share my story, and infuse each frame with a piece of my personality. My creative leanings gravitate towards portraiture and conceptual photography, as they not only suit my artistic tastes but also provide a platform for storytelling through visual art.
In addition to my artistic work, I freelance across the real estate and commercial sectors and regularly cover sporting events throughout New Zealand, Australasia, and beyond.
I consider myself one of the lucky few who gets to make a living doing what they love—living life through the lens of a photograph.
